About Us

Who We Are

The Wisconsin Historical Steam Engine Association (WHSEA) was founded on January 18, 2003, when approximately 70 steam enthusiasts met to form a nonprofit organization focused on preserving steam traction engines and related vintage machinery.

Our Mission

WHSEA is dedicated to the education, preservation, and promotion of safe operation of steam traction engines, boilers, and other vintage steam-powered equipment. We strive to ensure that knowledge and appreciation of steam technology continues for future generations.

WHSEA Leadership

Our Officers and Board of Directors are elected by our membership each May at our Annual Meeting. Our Board is made up of volunteers who care deeply about preserving the steam hobby in the state of Wisconsin. Our nine directors serve staggered three-year terms while our officers are elected for one year terms.
