  • Free primitive camping at the show grounds

On Friday, registration begins at 3:30 PM, with class running from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM. On Saturday, class is held from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. On Sunday, class runs from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Throughout the weekend, you will be spending time outside on equipment. Please bring weather-appropriate work clothes including long pants, closed toe shoes, and work gloves.

Yes. Breakfast and lunch are provided on Saturday and Sunday, and dinner is provided on Saturday evening. Dinner is not provided on Friday night, so we recommend eating before arriving for class on Friday. Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies.

Primitive camping is available free of charge at the show grounds for participants. There are also many hotel options located within 30 minutes of the show grounds.

This class is not intended to qualify participants as steam engine operators, but it does provide foundational knowledge in steam engine operation and maintenance. The course also counts for 16 hours of instruction toward the Minnesota State Hobby Engineer’s License and the Ohio Historical Operator’s License.
